Welcome to Appenzell

We attach great importance to values in Appenzell, values that seem to have less emphasis placed on them elsewhere. One of our central values is the family. We look after each other and stick together. We can have disagreements without losing respect for each other. In the end we are all pulling together  on the same rope, just the same as the Tug-of-war Teams. This is why we are looking forward to seeing a new large family in September 2012 – Tug-of-war athletes from all over the world.

We are sure you’ll feel at home here. As Appenzell has much to offer,  which makes this incomparable sport so special:

Energy – This is present everywhere here – our countryside is full of it.

Sincerity – This is an important motivating force in every day life. A handshake is still valid here!

Modesty – Our history has taught us to be modest and thankful. We recognise large potential in small things.

Enjoyment – And a lot of it.  When we get together we know how to celebrate a party.

Attributes which are not unknown to all  Tug-of-war athletes. We look forward to a wonderful family celebration with you. In this sense: We wish you a warm welcome in Appenzell!
